As the founder and President of Love Africa Mission, Nathan is passionate about life change for students serving on teams year after year in Africa. As an international speaker, he has been preaching the Gospel for decades all over the world, partnering with ministries like Compassion International, YWAM, Youth For Christ, Young Life, FCA, Africa Inland Mission, and countless churches. Nathan led his first team to Kenya in 2007, where he spoke at Rift Valley Academy and CURE Hospital. Since that time, Nathan has recruited, equipped, and sent hundreds of people on student and adult teams to East Africa because he knows that Jesus will break their hearts for the nations just as his heart was broken.
Nathan’s passion and love for people translates throughout all of his ministries as he points everyone he meets to Jesus. If you close your eyes while he speaks in his African accent you might mistake him for a native.
In February 2018, Stephanie will join Love Africa as Ministry Coordinator. Before accepting this position, Stephanie worked at The Kings University in Southlake, Texas; spearheading operations, events, and assisting the President in all his affairs. In addition to her extensive experience in administration, she had the privilege of working with housemothers of orphaned children in Zambia, Africa – as she lived there for most of the year of 2012.
Stephanie has spent her life passionate about bringing hope and love to children around the world – touching lives in Zambia, Philippines, and Jamaica. She is ready to open her hands and heart to the work of Love Africa.
Stephanie has been married to her husband John for 30 years. They have 3 amazing children. They have served all over the world together as a family! Serving Jesus with her family is the joy of her life!
Rachel also assists with the administrative tasks of Love Africa. She has a passion not only for Africa, but for students as well. Her dream is to work for a nonprofit one day and maybe even start her own.
Rachel graduated in December of 2017 from Clemson University where she studied Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management. At Clemson she has a heart for Young Life as well as FCA and just really loves people. She has traveled to Kenya more times than she can count on one hand and has such a heart for that country and its people. You can almost always find her listening to new music or laughing at something.
Brent is Chief Operations Officer for Nathan Smith Ministries which means he oversees all ministry operations with Love Africa Mission and Journey Camp.
Brent and his wife Kerri served as missionaries in Zambia for 7 years where they also raised their family. In addition to his experience in missions, Brent has an undergraduate and masters degrees in business and over 13 years of experience in business analysis and consulting. He hopes to use his education, skills and experiences to helps students find their passion here as well as abroad!
David Winn and his wife Janet, have served as educators for years in Eden, NC and first experienced Love Africa when his daughter, Laura, went on a trip to Kenya while she was attending Duke University.
